Double funding boost for Tullibody Community Development Trust

Photo courtesy of John Howie of the Alloa Advertiser.

Trustees of TCDT were over the moon this week when they learned they were successful in not only one grant award but two!

First up the Trust is pleased to announce they were awarded £5,000 from the Gannett Foundation which is the charitable arm of Newsquest Media Group, the owner of our own Alloa Advertiser. Charlie Watt, trustee stated this very generous award will enable us to provide a social space and café in our kitchen area at Tullibody Civic Centre. Somewhere our young people in particular can come and spend time with their friends after school or early evening. We also hope to open up the café in the mornings for a few hours for parents to meet after they drop off their kids to school and nursery. The grant means we can purchase bistro tables and chairs, an expresso/cappuccino coffee maker, fridge, freezer and spruce the kitchen up to make it attractive and inviting. We are so looking forward to getting this project off the ground.

The second grant funding award notification received this week was from the Tabhair Charitable Trust. Tabhair’s core funding grant of £2,000 will cover the cost of installing and running our broadband and Wi-Fi for one year, and our card payment and security systems and well as buy our cleaning supplies. Janette McGowan chair of the trust stated, we have been overwhelmed with the news of receiving these grants in the run up to Christmas. The Trust has only been running the Civic Centre under our Occupancy Licence for just over 1 month. These funds will ensure our community is able to enjoy a really nice café and social space with public Wi-Fi, something that Tullibody has been sadly lacking in recent years.

We’d like to thank The Gannett Foundation and the Alloa Advertiser, the Tabhair Charitable Trust and our local community for their support. We’d like to remind everyone that we are open bookings now and you can book online at:http://tullibodycdt.org.uk/book/ or make an enquiry at:enquiries@tullibodycdt.org.uk

On behalf of Tullibody Community Development Trust, we’d like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year.
